Before you know it, we will be hosting our five year Quality Assurance Review (QAR) from Advance-Ed, our accrediting agency. We have submitted our Standards Assessment Report (SAR) and we are very pleased with our results. On Wednesday, February 3, 2010, we had a Pre-Visit with our chairperson for the QAR visiting team, Ms.Pat Summers. During this meeting we discussed the logistics for the upcoming visit such as hotel accomodations, transportation, and meal arrangements, as well as the schedule of activities for the 2 days.

During the QAR visit, the team will interview the Director/Principal, the school leadership team, teachers, students, parents, Consultative Board members, and members of the community. The team will also examine artifacts and practices that provide evidence of the seven standards: 1.) Vision and Purpose 2.) Governance and Leadership 3.) Teaching and Learning, 4.) Documenting and Using Results, 5.) Resource and Support Systems, 6.) Stakeholder Communications and Relationships, and 7.) Committment to Continuous Improvement. These are the standards that accredited schools are expected to meet, and, In-sha-Allah, our school is in compliance with these standards.

Parents are needed on the logistics committee to help ensure that the visiting team is treated to the highest quality of hospitality. If you are interested in serving on this committee or being interviewed, please call Sis.Edwina at (404)378-1042.

On another note, we have changed the date of the Day of Majesty 2010 from February 27th to Saturday, March 6th, after the QAR review to celebrate our successes, ISA. Our new date is also a reflection of the fact that we have not received the participation from even a quarter of our students. We have been enlisting the support of all our families for our “Day of Majesty” fundraiser since the beginning of January because it is a critical part of fulfilling the financial obligations of the school. We have been asking that each student 3K-8th grade raise AT LEAST $150 towards this fundraiser. Each High School student, we were asking that they bring in $30 for the month of February. Those $30 are to represent 30 years of uninterrupted Islamic Independent Education! It is a mighty accomplishment to celebrate, and we know that you feel the same. For all families that do not feel compelled to participate in the “Day of Majesty 2010″, please remember your obligation through your Fundraising Contract-that all students are obligated to participate at the $150 level.

Yes, yes, yes! The “Day of Majesty: 2010” has been rescheduled to March 6, 2010 at 4:00pm!!! That means great news for all you families who haven’t had the chance to participate yet! The new deadline date to turn in money is now Thursday, March 4th!!! I repeat, the new deadline date to turn in money is now Thursday, March 4th!!

The critical thing about the Day of Majesty is that we need EVERY STUDENT’s PARTICIPATION!! I can not stress that enough. To date, we have less than 10 students who have turned in at least $150. I would like to acknowledge those students, and give much encouragement to those students who have gotten off to a slow start, or who may even be feeling like they just don’t want to participate. This is what I tell my children…. “Don’t you want your school to stay open so you can go to it every day? Don’t you like seeing your friends every day and learning your Sura’s, and playing Basketball and Soccer, and participating in the Science Fair?!!! We have a legacy at Mohammed Schools that is like no other!! And when you bring in money for the Day of Majesty, you help to uplift your school and fulfill the dua’s of Sister Clara and The Honorable Elijah Muhammad from so many years ago!! You are a part of something really awesome!! And you have to do what you can do for your own school!”
