The Day of Majesty is upon us, and this is an extra special Majesty event this year! In honor of Director Safiyyah Shahid’s last year at the school, the theme for this year’s celebration is Day of Majesty 2012- “An Incredible Journey of Legacy, Leadership, and Love”. This Day of Majesty will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Shareef Abdur-Rahim Gymnasium, so that only gives each student 7 weeks to diligently raise as much money as they can to participate in the Royal Court of this year’s Day of Majesty! Let’s show Sis.Safiyyah that we fully support her work throughout the years by fully investing ourselves in the last two upcoming fundraisers for this school year, starting with the Day of Majesty 2012!

So, over the break, let’s get excited about the Day of Majesty 2012!! Packets with Race Rules, Goals, a calendar of events, and student pictures will be distributed to all students on Friday, January 6th! Students can earn Community Service Hours, and Parents can earn Volunteer Hours by participating in this year’s celebration!

Majesty Planning Committee 2011

This week is the final week of the first semester. This week#19 of the school year will be marked by final exams. I pray all parents have used the study guides to help your children prepare for their final exams. This is a great time to teach time management, test taking strategies, and ways to to insure success, like getting enough rest, eating brain foods, and the like. While it is not a time for the children to be nervous, it is a great time for students to understand the value of putting your best foot forward and finishing strong. Congrats on completing the first semester of the school year. Looking forward to bigger and better things in the second semester.

Hafith Graduation

Alhamdulillah! Five of our 10 Hafith students are ready for graduation one of the Hafith program. They have learned the rules of reading Al-Qur’an. Graduation One, Qaeedah Tajweed, will be Wednesday, December 21, 3 p.m. Please come and help celebrate with our students. The graduation will be in the musallah of the main building.

See You Next Year

Friday is the last day of this first semester. Winter Break officially begins at noon on Friday, Dec. 23. That means, for many, we won’t see you until next year. When you return to school, it will be 2012. Friday, Dec. 23rd is a half day. All students should be picked up by noon. Students return to school Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2012. That will begin the third quarter and second semester. Report cards will be issued on Friday, Jan. 6th. Have a safe and wonderful time with family over the break. We pray that all of our students, teachers, staff, and family will return with renewed ideas, faith, and roll-up-your sleeve energy.

1. 25 Book Reading Campaign August 17 through May 16.
All students are expected to read or have read to them (non readers only) 25 books by May 16, 2012. Certificates will be given to all participants and prizes to the top three students exceeding those levels.

2. BookIt! October 1 through March 31. Grades K -6.
Teachers set monthly reading goals and at the end of each month students completing those goals receive a coupon for a pizza from Pizza Hut.

3. Six Flags Read 2 Succeed October 24 through February. Grades K – 6th
Students must complete 600 minutes of reading and have their minutes logged in by their teachers by March 1 to receive a free ticket to Six Flags Over Georgia and parents can get a reduced rate ticket.

We have 83 players on deck with family, relatives, and guests. We can expect to serve 250 people or more. Last year we did a great job with having plenty of food and team work and serving our players, families, and guests! Yes, we can do it again! May Allah bless us all with a amazing Spring Soccer Season!

All food must be cooked and prepared for banquet,we will need parents help in serving and catering to our youth,guest,family and friends. We want to thank every parent/relative who gave time and involvement with their child soccer season this fall, it’s so fundamentally important that we stay engaged every step of the way with our youth,may allah reward us all.

We are entering Week#16 of the school year. Time is moving fast. Three more weeks before the end of the semester.

Progress Reports were issued last week. This week you should plan to meet with your child’s teacher of his/her progress in school. Parent-teacher conferences are scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 30, 4-6 p.m. Plan a meeting even if your child had great grades and great conduct.

With the time change, teachers have planned varying activities for students for after salatul Jumah. Salatul Jumah usually ends between 2:00 and 2:15 p.m. That gives us approximately one hour before the end of the school day. You are encouraged to assist with clubs, special workshops and sessions, and monitoring of students. Earn your tuition credit hours for the hard work you choose to do with our children.

Final exams will be the week of Dec. 19-23. Students should receive study guides next week beginning Monday, Dec. 12. The study guides will help you to help your child to prepare for the final exams.

On Sunday, Dec. 4, 10 a.m.-Noon, the Atlanta Society of Muslim Men will honor three of our students and one of our top supporters. Aliyyah Karriem (class of 2014), Hanan Threats and Majid Omar (class of 2013), and Allen London, a local award-winning artist, will all be recognized for their service and giving. Each offers a unique and special gift in their community service. All proceeds from the breakfast will be used toward the purchase of a new school bus. Admission is $12 (adults) and $6 (students). Please join us. Tell your family and friends.

We are looking for business ads to go into the new coupon book. We need at least 100 ads. Do your part. Please get at least five businesses that you support to support our school by getting an ad. The form for the ads is attached. No business is too big or too small to be included.
