PreKindergarten


Mission & Curriculum
The Mission of Mohammed Schools is to provide an education based on Quranic principles and their universal application. The Pre-K program has been designed around the idea of this Mission using the State approved Saxon curriculum along with an Arabic & Islamic studies comprehensive program.
The program is broken down into 9 (4) week-themes:

Listed below are the comprehensive themes for the Pre-k 3, and Pre-k 4 year old classes. Throughout the school year student will learn and gain significant amounts of exposure to all areas of study although they may not be specifically listed below.

Time for School

  • Student Assessment
  • Familiarity with school routines & personnel
  • Review of primary colors in English
  • Fire Safety
  • Review of personal hygiene & personal needs
  • Introduction to rhymes
  • Use of prepositional words to describe location
  • Development of the 5 senses
  • Review of 4 basic geometric shapes

I Take Good Care of Myself

  • Intro to fables
  • Expanding geometric shape knowledge
  • Parts of the body
  • Safety procedures at school, home, and the community
  • Introduction to a healthy diet
  • Interpersonal skills (helpfulness)

Fun with Family & Friends

  • Family traditions
  • Becoming aware that all families are different and special.
  • Identifying the needs of a family (food & shelter)
  • Use complete sentences to describe families
  • Using sequential words
  • Identifying different materials (plastic, wood metal)
  • Various ways to communicate to

The World Around Me

  • Using all of the concepts learned in the past 2 themes to understand concepts in environment
  • (i.e. living green, recycling)

  • Practicing measurement and using scales to calculate balance & weight
  • Learning appropriate forms of transportation
  • Categorize different forms of landscapes( i.e mountains, ponds, beaches)

A Habitat Is a Place to Live

  • Identifying different habitats of land animals
  • Identify animals/plants that live underground
  • Concepts of hibernation
  • Concept of shortest /longest
  • Continued recognition of positional words

All themes integrate social, scientific, and early learning reading skills to best prepare students for Kindergarten.

Required School supplies
2 KING SIZE pillowcases
Nap mat
Scissors
Play-Dough (please buy the Play-dough name brand, other brands stain and dry out easily)
Glue sticks
1 pack of paper towels
1 organic cleaner, or Clorox green works surface cleaner
1 multi-pack of tissue
LABELED extra clothes in a gallon or 2 ½ gallon size zip lock bag
1 pre-packaged snack with juice (ex. applesauce, goldfish, butter cookies) Please no sugary snacks.
