News from the Principal
This correspondence has important updates regarding activities and business at Mohammed Schools.
- Congratulations to our mock trial team that had its competition yesterday, Feb. 25, at the DeKalb County courthouse. Fifteen of our high school students competed. Three brought home awards –Yusuf Abdullah and Marwan Sabir (class of 2015) received outstanding witness awards and Shakoora Sabree (class of 2012) received the four year award. Special thanks to our teacher coach Yusef Roberts and our attorney coaches Nafeesah Fudaeel and Antonio Robinson.
- Congratulations to our Day of Majesty winners and participants. The first grade class won as the class that raised the most money. Together, we all raised a total of $14,0000.00 for our school.
- Study guides for mid-term exams will distributed this week. Please look for your child’s exam study guide. Mid-term exams are next week (March 5-9).
- Mohammed Schools seeks a volunteer to work half an hour (11 a.m.-11:30 a.m.), Monday through Thursday, teaching a structured physical education class to the middle school males. The class should meet the Georgia Performance Standards and include class work, homework, assessments that will help expose the students and expand their understanding of physical education. Interested volunteers may submit an application to the Mohammed Schools as soon as possible.
- Mohammed Schools has enjoyed the wonderful service of Sis. Amatullah Muhammad in providing uniforms for the females for the past 17 years. Sis. Amatullah is retiring her sewing machine. Mohammed Schools seeks qualified seamstress to assume the uniform production contract. If interested, contact Principal Qur’an Shakir (404-378-1042) by Feb. 20. The principal is also seeking designs for the uniform, especially from the females (grades pre-k to high school) of Mohammed Schools.
- A special congratulations to our varsity boys basketball team that made it to the Sweet 16 state playoffs. We are proud of them and their hard work.
- Remember to mark your calendar to attend our Family Film Viewing on Friday, March 2nd, 6-9 p.m. at the school.
- The middle school team and the high school team are each working to provide a website where parents and students can go to check to see plans and homework for the week. Although the sites are in the formative phase, here is a link to the sites. Insha-Allah, all work will be posted this week.
